D1 - San José / Volcan Irazú / Turrialba lodge
Meeting in San José at 8 am. Departure by bus to Volcan Irazú National Park and its spectacular jade green crater. Start of the hike towards Turrialba Volcano through fields, pastures and high forests. 5 hour-walk. Meals and night at Volcan Turrialba Lodge. Hummingbird watching and maybe you will see the famous quetzal.
D2 - Volcan Turrialba / San José
Early morning hummingbird watching, maybe you will see the famous quetzal. Departure of the hike for the ascent of Turrialba Volcano (3326 m). Descent in the caldera with its 3 craters (5 hour walk). Back to San José by bus via Cartago (visit of the Basilica de Los Angeles). Arrival around 5 pm.
