From Atlantic to Pacific
10 days / 9 nights departing from San José
Early departure from San José to Tortuguero. The transport bus + boat is provided by the lodge which also provides an English-speaking guide. The road passes through the hills of Braulio Carillo National Park before diving into the Caribbean plain. Boarding in the boat through the canals of Tortuguero. Arrival at the lodge around mid-day, lunch and settling for 2 nights. Walk in the village. Visit of the Turtle Museum.
Early guided walk, breakfast and visit of Tortuguero National Park by boat. Admire its sumptuous forest-gallery and its fauna usually very visible from the boat. Return to the lodge in the end of the morning. Relaxing afternoon: walk in the lodge’s reserve, butterfly farm, swimming pool…
D3 - Tortuguero / Puerto Viejo de Limón
Return by boat after breakfast. Lunch in a restaurant in Siquirres. Delivery of the rental 4x4 and go and head off South. Arrival in Puerto Viejo de Limón, small town along the Atlantic Ocean. Settling in a hotel for 2 nights. Dinner not included in the evening.
Breakfast. Departure for a day in Cahuita National Park : swimming, snorkeling, walks along the coastal trail that skirt round the park by the forest.
After breakfast, departure towards the Central Valley (4 hour-drive) Settling in a hotel for 2 nights above the beautiful Orosi Valley.
D6 - Tapantí National Park
Breakfast. Hiking in Tapantí National Park and visit of Orosi Valley, the colonial church and the coffee farming.
D7 - Paraíso / Dota
Breakfast. Departure for the Santos Valley and the Cerro de la Muerte. Settling for one night in a mountain hotel in San Gerado de Dota (2200 m).
D8 - Cerro de la Muerte / Manuel Antonio
Breakfast. In option, guided tour to observe the famous Quetzal, Costa Rica mythical bird. Descent towards the Pacific Coast and the South of the country. Settling in a comfortable hotel located next to Manuel Antonio’s National Park. Walk on the beach and swimming in the Pacific Ocean.
D9 - Manuel Antonio National Park
Breakfast. A public bus will take you to the entrance of Manuel Antonio National Park, which protects sumptuous white sand beaches surrounded by the humid tropical forest. The park’s trails enable you to observe a remarkable and very present fauna. In option, a tour of the park with local guides equipped with binoculars. Return to the hotel.
D10 - Manuel Antonio / San José
Breakfast. Return towards San José via the Crocodiles’ bridge in Tárcoles. Return of your rental 4x4.
