8 days / 7 nights departing from San José
D1 - San José / Volcan Irazú
Departure in public bus for Volcan Irazú, towering above the Central Valley and San José with its 3 432 m. Visit of the National Park overviewing the active crater and its green jade lake. Return by bus to San José. Night in hotel B&B in San José.
Delivery of your rental 4x4 and departure for the Sarapiquí Valley. The road passes through the hills of Braulio Carillo National Park before diving into the Caribbean plain. Settling for one night in hotel B&B.
After breakfast, departure for La Selva Biological Station. Half day with a bilingual naturalist guide (English / Spanish) discovering the treasures of the humid tropical forest. Lunch not included. Head off toward La Fortuna and the imposing Arenal Volcano in constant and daily activity since 1968. Settling in a hotel for 2 nights.
D4 - Arenal Volcano
Breakfast. Visit of Arenal National Park. Free afternoon for you to take advantage of the numerous appeals of the area : La Fortuna’s waterfall, Arenal Hanging Bridges , thermal springs spurting out of the volcano. Night at the hotel.
D5 - La Fortuna / Tenorio Volcano
Breakfast. Departure skirting round Arenal Lake heading-off North toward Bijagua. Settling for 1 night full board in a rustic lodge surrounded by nature just by the Volcano Tenorio. In the afternoon, you can practice horse riding in the property.
D6 - Bijagua / Rincón de la Vieja
Breakfast. Morning of discovery with the guided tour of Volcan Tenorio National Park and of the famous Río Celeste (river of an astonishing blue contrasting with the green of the jungle.) A 3 to to 4 hours leads to natural hot springs and a magnificent waterfall. In the afternoon, departure for Rincón de la Vieja and the namesake volcano. Settling in hotel B&B for 2 nights.
D7 - Rincón de la Vieja
Breakfast. Visit of Rincón de la Vieja National Park. Round Las Pailas sector you will observe geothermal activity: mini-geyser, hot water solfatare springs… Return to the hotel.
D8 – Rincón de la Vieja / San José
Breakfast and return to San José. Return of your rental 4x4 at the end of the afternoon.
